Electricity-saving programs and benefits
In line with government policy for encouraging recycled energy in 2011, application for building power generation equipment using recycled energy was filed with the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The Energy Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs endorsed the rooftop solar energy generation system for installing 230 single tiles to a total of 264 tiles with a total installation capacity of 60.72kw and an estimated annual power generation of 63,000 degrees. Taiwan Power Corporation signed a resale contract for the building project and the project completed construction and joint power generation by 2011/12/26. The facilities continue to be in effective operation.

From February 2009 onwards, throughout the temperature measurement process, we are using low temperature nitrogen instead of carbon dioxide as originally used, thereby reducing CO2 usage by about 66 tons per month.
In 2008 we invested in a CDA pipeline replacement project resulting in electricity consumption savings from April to December of 423,750 kWh, and reducing carbon emissions by 269,505 kg (applying an electricity emission factor of 0.636kg CO2 equivalent/ kWh).
In 2007 we replaced clean room lamps with 1,550 energy-efficient ones, saving 27,156 kWh per year, and reducing carbon emissions by 17,298kg (applying an electricity emission factor of 0.637kg CO2 equivalent/ kWh).

TXC's facilities water supplied are all sourced from the Taiwan Water Corp., and given the limited water resources in the Taiwan region, our water use statistics are provided below, so we have invested in water recapture and reutilization systems since 2008, and since November 2008 nearly 35% of our production process water supplies have undergone RO wastewater treatment for reuse in toilet flushing and airconditioning replenishment.
